Dr Ben LaHood is a world recognised expert in ophthalmology. His research work is frequently published and presented worldwide. Dr LaHood is now frequently invited to speak on cataract and refractive surgery topics worldwide. Ben also regularly teaches other ophthalmologists, trainee surgeons, and optometrists.
Dr LaHood graduated from Otago Medical School in New Zealand with distinction in 2007. He went on to complete his Postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmology in 2011 graduating with distinction and being awarded prizes in Ophthalmic anatomy, physiology and optics. Ben undertook subspecialty training in refractive surgery in Adelaide, Australia where he was mentored by A/Professor Michael Goggin to become an authority on astigmatism management, premium IOL implantation and laser vision correction. Recently Dr LaHood has returned to South Australia to take up an ophthalmology appointment at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and return to his private practice with Dr Goggin at Ashford Advanced Eye Care.
